DAZ Studio Advanced Review

Adding meta-data to loose files in DAZ Studio is quite easy, if you have a lot of them, and with proper categories included, it can become hard to find between two dozen tops and another two dozen pants just to find the result to form a matching outfit. This is the Products view of the My Stuff panel.

To generate meta-data for your product - or to create a continue-product from a set of artworks you want to group together - find a directory including some of the product's libraries in the Content Library tab, open the context menu herein, and select "Create a Product...". A small tab will pop-up, notify you for a name, and then "OK" to confirm. A new product directory then created in the related sub-folder in the "Products" directory.

P.S.: You need to select the content of the regular directory before product creation - I determinate it was not a must, but when I take a screen capture, the product directory was empty at the end.

OK, you can find all the assets that related to DAZStudio with different directories and categories in "content library" tab, simply highlight and copy, head to the product directory and select "paste reference" in the menu. It will generate a temporary category to files that you pick them within the tree-shape folder. At the end, you can simply do a copy and paste with them, put them all into the new category folder, instead to flash back and go to the "products folder".

When all of your assets was added to your product, please check your product directory and select "content db editor" in the menu of the tab. A db editor dialog will then fire up, with "product" and "assets" tabs in the top level. We had  described the functionality of the "assets tab" in the previous blog post, so if you had made meta-data to the files in your product, it will be there. If it's not here, you can simply to add it right away.

Please take a look in the "product tab", You can setup the meta-data for your product there. For example : the store (now there are "DAZStudio" and "none" are available only), description, and artists. Description, and artists are shown in the "info" location of "my stuff" tab. Please note that you can not find them in the search function.

The "token" is the store's ID for your product. If apply to DAZ Studio, that is the item number located in the URL of your product page, instead of "product code" that can be found on pages, such as "ps_ac1232".

The "global id" are the database's internal id, you simply ignore it.

"support" function provide you an xml file with the gathered information of this dialog, which is shown when you clicked the "export" button located at bottom or closed the dialog when checked the "auto export" dialog. If "auto fill" is checked, the name in the support file was automatically made in the store, token, and name value.

"files", select from the meta-data of the products, will have all files in a list that associate to DAZ 3D. Moreover, they have anything in the visible assets. The files can be added separately by entire folders. This  doesn't have any visible function in the list, so you can left empty for the purpose of the "my stuff" panel.

You cannot choose The "scene id" tab there. The scene id will be shown automatically and assigned to compatibility bases of assets in this product have registered. ex. : the product "Victoria 3.1" will have the asset "Victoria 3.1.cr2", which including a compatibility base of "/Generation4/Victoria 3", which is altered with the scene id "#blMilWom_4b_56856" (it's the .obj file name and vertices number) - so a line showing this related objects will show in the "scene id" area of the product tab.

After entered all data you desired and output the support files (manually/automatically), the product will be shown in the products view of the "my stuff" tab, its each assets had shown in the files view. If you want your product to have a cute icon, you can place an image file of the same base name as the support files to the same directory on your hard disk. The default location is "<path to my library>/runtime/support/". The icons are set to 100 x 143 px, which is the same size of thumbnails of product in the DAZ Advanced Studio Website.
